“When I first heard about the idea of human compression therapy being applied at the Turf Club, I was reasonably excited. It’s a bit of a passion of mine. We do a lot of orthopaedic surgery — ultrasound, x-rays, hands-on assessment at the time of diagnosis and injury — but we’re not really following through long term. As in human sports medicine, research has shown that the more effort you put in during the post-injury time, the better the outcomes.”Dr Dan Shaw is a veterinarian at the Singapore Turf Club, one of Asia’s premier horse racing institutions. My main concern is the injuries that occur during polo — horses running very fast, hard stops, sharp turns, contact with the ball, the stick, and each other. These cause tendon and ligament injuries that, once a horse has them, take a very long time to recover from.
Intermittent compression is a good concept. It brings more blood circulation to the limbs. With more blood circulation comes more oxygen and more nutrition to the tissues — that is what helps speed up the healing process, especially in tendon and ligament cases. It will warm up the legs, it will give more blood circulation to the lower limbs, and the horse will definitely feel better. From a health point of view, the horses will definitely benefit.

I am a veterinarian and own 3 horses myself. One of my own horses, Colten, developed laminitis… He was placed on a pain CRI along with his SGL2 inhibitor, NSAID, Thyroxine, Minocycline, GI protectants, and ice therapy. I was able to get him stabilised but could not get him to increase sole depth. I started to look for a product I was familiar with that did compression therapy, however it was no longer in production. I was then able to find Recovery Systems… I have now been able to use it a few times on him. He seems to enjoy it. I am looking forward to rechecking his growth.
Because I had it on hand, I also put it on my semi-retired 25-year-old Paint mare who took me cross country in her prime. I could put it on right away just after showing it to her. She really enjoyed it — with the expression, ‘where has this been all my life

When my horse got lymphangitis I panicked. We had bought her to be my next competition horse and thought she was done. My vet recommended compression boots but the closest place that had one was in another state. My family and I came across Recovery Systems, and decided to reach out. Their customer service has been amazing, and their compression boots have worked wonders. We are now looking at the 2024 show season and her leg is almost normal again

My horse got lymphangitis about 2 months ago. We did so much research on how to help her and we found Recovery Systems horse compression boots. Not only is their customer service amazing but the boots are as well. She almost has a normal looking leg again. Thank you Recovery Systems for creating such a great machine to help our horses thrive.
