Recovery Systems Sport Equine Compression Boots

Horses face the same physiological recovery demands as elite athletes — muscle fatigue, lower-limb inflammation, joint stress, and the cumulative wear of hard training, competition, and transport. Recovery Systems Sport addresses these challenges with two complementary equine recovery technologies, engineered for daily stable use and trusted by professional racing stables, equestrian teams, and dedicated horse owners worldwide.

equine air pro compression boots launch promo ends july 2025 !

The Equine Air Pro delivers intermittent pneumatic compression — sequential air pressure applied across multiple chambers wrapped around the lower limb — to actively drive blood flow, clear lactic acid and inflammatory markers, reduce swelling and heat, and restore circulation after training or competition. Four programmable therapy modes cover every stage of the performance cycle: warm-up before exercise, post-session recovery, injury rehabilitation, and transport comfort. Battery-powered with USB-C charging and a three-hour run time, the Equine Air Pro fits in approximately one minute and is suitable for stable, paddock, or float use.

Equine Regenrug pro | 3 in 1 far infrared, pemf & red light horse rug

The Equine RegenRug completes the picture — addressing the back, topline, and hindquarters that compression boots cannot reach. Combining far-infrared heat therapy, PEMF therapy at 7.83 Hz, and red light photon therapy in a single wearable rug, the RegenRug delivers deep-tissue muscle relief, cellular-level repair, and anti-inflammatory treatment simultaneously. The 12-hour programmable timer supports overnight stable recovery while the horse rests.

Together, the Equine Air Pro and the Equine RegenRug provide complete coverage from hoof to topline — a full-body equine recovery protocol that is drug-free, non-invasive, and clinically grounded.

Equine Air Compression Boots Vet Review

How the Equine Air Pro Works –

The Equine Air Pro uses intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) — a sequence of air chambers that inflate and deflate around the horse’s lower limb in a controlled rhythm. This mechanical action drives blood and lymphatic fluid through the venous system, clearing the metabolic waste products that accumulate during intense exercise and that slow the natural recovery process if left unaddressed.

The result is faster clearance of lactic acid and inflammatory markers, reduced swelling and heat in the lower limb, improved delivery of oxygen-rich blood to fatigued muscle and tendon tissue, and a measurably faster return to full training capacity. Sessions of 20 to 30 minutes are recommended once or twice daily for horses in active competition or rehabilitation.

Recovery Systems Sport Equine Air Pro uses

Four Therapy Modes

WARM-UP: Stimulates deep tissue circulation and neuromuscular readiness before training or competition. Raises muscle temperature to improve tendon elasticity and reduce injury risk at the start of work.

POST-SESSION RECOVERY: Clears lactic acid and metabolic waste from muscle tissue after exercise. Reduces post-training swelling, stiffness, and soreness — shortening the recovery window between efforts.

INJURY REHABILITATION: Provides controlled, gentle compression to support tendon and ligament repair. Improves local circulation in injured tissue without mechanical stress. Suitable for use alongside veterinary treatment. TRANSPORT: Keeps the lower limb active and relaxed during travel. Reduces the circulatory stress of prolonged standing in a horse float or trailer — a major contributor to lower-limb swelling and stiffness on arrival.

Improve blood flow and recovery after a workout

The Equine Air compression boot utilizes a series of routines based on the selected program. It activates separate chambers that inflate at individual points; One chamber inflates after the other in a sequence controlled by a microcomputer. Its purpose is to enhance venous and arterial blood flow around the leg, speeding up the repair process of the muscles by squeezing out metabolic waste and increasing the oxygen level in the muscles. The benefits are not only during the squeezing phase but also during the release phase, which speeds up the delivery of fresh nutrients to accelerate healing. Four programs are available for Warmup, recovery, rehab and horse transport.

Frequently Asked Questions

Recovery Systems Equine offers an air compression massager designed for horses. This massager uses intermittent air compression to massage the horse’s legs, promoting faster healing and recovery.

The wrap fills with air and squeezes the legs like a blood pressure cuff. Then, the wrap deflates and relaxes. The inflating and deflating process repeats over and over during the treatment cycle. The compression helps move blood through the veins towards the heart and promotes the natural release of metabolic waste. Between compressions, the leg wraps relax, and oxygen-rich blood returns, delivering fresh nutrients to speed up recovery.

Many owners have found the wraps beneficial for warming up their horses. Ten minutes on the wraps boost muscle oxygenation like a 30-minute jog.

Not just for recovery, these wraps are versatile tools. They are equally effective in rehabilitation and ensuring your horse stays relaxed during transport, making them a must-have for every horse owner.

The wraps can be used on the front or hind legs.

Do not use the product without first consulting your veterinarians if you know or suspect your horse has the following conditions:
Pulmonary embolism (blood clot) or edema
Inflammation of the skin (e.g.: cellulitis, erysipelas)

  • Thrombophlebitis
  • Acute infections
  • Congestive cardiac failure
  • Wounds, lesions, stitches or tumours at or near the site of application
  • Bone fractures or dislocations at or near the site of application
  • Other related issues and complications

We designed our products with Intermittent Pneumatic Compression technology, which employs air inflating and deflating to fill the leg wraps. The repeated process of squeezing and releasing the leg wraps speeds up the elimination of swelling, a classic post-workout symptom.

Aside from faster removal of waste products and delivery of fresh nutrients for speedier healing and recovery, it also improves joint awareness, movement efficiency, and, more importantly, a reduction of soreness, getting the horse ready for action again sooner.

Most importantly, the battery-powered Equine air compression massager is portable, so it can be used at any time and anywhere.

Yes, regardless of the discipline, the Recovery Systems air horse compression boots can effectively treat and alleviate the symptoms of the most common lower limb ailments and challenges, including:

– Limb swelling, stiffness, and soreness

– Forelimb swelling and trauma

– swollen tendons

– Laminitis

– Windgalls

The increased blood flow has a positive effect on healing and recovery. For injuries, please consult your veterinarian before using the product. (we have many vets using our Equine wraps; see our testimonials for their stories and videos)

Use of the product shows improved recovery, rehabilitation, mobility, and maintenance of the horse’s peak condition. The pressure of the squeeze and release function of the Equine wraps is around ten times that of static compression, greatly influencing blood flow and the associated healing.

It utilizes intermittent compression to speed up the horse’s natural recovery process, providing quicker recovery times than traditional solutions, including compression wraps, massage, or rest.

Best Equine Recovery – compression boots for horses

Warm up – all chambers are on, then off, in a 45-second cycle for 15 minutes, and shut down. This mode effectively boosts muscle oxygen in the horse’s legs; 10 to 15 minutes is all that is needed.

Recovery involves filling in a sequence from hoof to knee before pausing, deflating, and repeating. The treatment takes 20 to 30 minutes and can be repeated as required.

Rehab – Our gentlest mode for injury and rehab of various conditions. Filling one zone at a time, on then off, on a 15 sec cycle with 15 sec off phase at the end of cycle. Max pressure is reduced to 100mmhg in this mode in 4 steps – 25,50,75 and 100mmhg

Travel: To keep your horse relaxed during transport In horse floats, trailers or flights, etc. – filling in a sequence hoof to knee before pausing, deflating and repeating. The treatment is intermittent – The controller timer is on for 15 minutes; wait for 15 minutes, and repeat until the battery is flat or the device is switched off.

No. Ice or cold air slows the circulation and delays recovery.

In addition, immersing in cold water post-workout can hinder muscle recovery and reduce long-term gains in muscle mass and strength. Cold water reduces blood flow to the muscles, inhibiting muscle cell recovery. Cold treatment is mainly used for trauma treatment rather than day-to-day recovery. We do have a different solution for trauma-related injuries.

Static compression wraps typically produce around 20 mmHg of pressure, resulting in a limited increase in blood flow due to their static nature. In contrast, Recovery Systems apply a pressure of around 200 mmHg during the squeeze and release function, significantly enhancing blood flow and the associated healing process.

Here’s how they work in 2 phases:

Squeeze Phase:

Recovery Systems utilize various treatment modes that closely mimic the body’s natural recovery process. This enhances the movement of fluid and waste out of the limbs after intense physical activity and actively moves blood through the veins towards the heart. The continuous squeeze or compression phase, lasting around 1 minute, effectively maintains fluid movement in the right direction. It’s a dynamic, active solution with a pressure ten times that of a static compression wrap.

Release Phase:

The release phase, lasting around 20 seconds, is a crucial part of the Recovery System. During this phase, the leg wraps relax, allowing oxygen-rich blood to continue flowing in the arteries of the legs. This process accelerates the transport of fresh nutrients back to the muscles, promoting faster healing, recovery, and gains. It’s a versatile solution, perfect for warmups, recovery from daily training, and rehabilitation.

Yes, the pair of leg wraps can be either used on the front or the hind legs.

Here are suggested Treatment Times, Frequency and Pressure:

Treatment Time

  • Warmup before track work – 10 mins (particularly for injury-prone horses or horses that are slow to warm up)
  • Recovery after track work – 10 to 30 mins

Frequency

  • All treatment frequency – 1 to 4 times per day
  • Injury rehabilitation – 1 to 4 times per day, at 10 to 30 mins each session (please consult your veterinarians before using)
  • Evening-time treatment can improve sleep quality (This is because the horse’s body is more relaxed and receptive to treatment in the evening, leading to better sleep and overall health).Travel/transport: Using the equine air compression boots on your horse during transport will help keep your horse fresh and ready to perform at your destination.

Pressure

  • Starting the pressure at level 1 (the pressure controller has four levels) to get the horse used to the compression initially and then increase gradually during each recovery session.

Equine osteoarthritis – known commonly as degenerative joint disease – is a leading cause of equine lameness. The disease typically affects the leg or synovial joints, including the hock, fetlock, pastern, coffin, stifle and knee. It can also involve the horse’s neck and back.

Equine air compression boots can greatly assist the management of Equine Osteoarthritis.

Yes –

Both horses and humans have historically required time- and labour-intensive treatments for Lymphedema, involving carefully designed massage techniques to promote lymph drainage, followed by specific bandaging techniques, skincare, and custom exercise programs. However, these treatments often produce insignificant and short-lived improvements, highlighting the need for a more effective solution.”

There is increasing evidence and successful results for Recovery Systems air compression boots, which use intermittent pneumatics to massage horses’ legs. These boots have proven to be a valuable tool in managing equine Lymphedema.

Inspired by proven results in human lymphedema patients using pneumatic compression garments, Recovery Systems launched similar garments adapted for horses in 2019.

The commercially available device comprises knee-length garments with an inbuilt battery-powered microcontroller with Equine Warmup, recovery, Rehab, and Transport programs.

The hoof-to-knee garments inflate and deflate from hoof to knee at preset pressures, creating a ripple effect of upward compression. This innovative approach enhances lymphatic flow, potentially relieving horses suffering from chronic progressive Lymphedema, lymphangitis, cellulitis, or other lymphatic system issues.

It only takes one minute to fit Recovery Systems Equine air compression massager, and Horses enjoy the treatment and are generally relaxed to the point of dozing off.
